Brewing an ESB
I am planning to brew an ESB. I have never done one before but I am planning on using Maris Otter, Caramel 60 and trying to decide between Maize, Torrified Wheat or neither. I have seen a couple of recipes that use one or the other.
Anyone have any experience they would like to share?
Thanks!

Need hops - Target and EK Goldings
I need 1 oz. of Target and 2 ounces EK Goldings for Wednesday if someone can spot me. I can pay or trade if I have something you need.
BTW, I am doing an ESB if someone has a substitute suggestion and availability.
Thanks!

Thanks for the info. BTW, I mistakenly posted in the bulk and group buying section. Sorry about that. It was unintentional.

White Labs Yeast
I have been using either Wyeast or Safale in all of my brewing up until this weekend when I tried, for the first time, White Labs yeast. My experience was not so good from the perspective that I had to vigorously shake the tube in which it was packaged and it was like shaking a Dr. Pepper. When I ...

Home Depot Homer Buckets
I just bought some additional HD Homer Buckets today to store my grain. I haven't bought any of these in a quite a while but when I was putting on the lids it appears that they are all about 1/8" to 1/4" too large for the buckets. I verified with some older lids and buckets that I have and the older ...

Re: Newbie co2/keg question (help!)
I would like to do that as well. Mine is a chest freezer and I have seen some pics posted elsewhere that show a wooden collar of sorts that the lid is mounted too and then it sits on the freezer itself so that beer taps and gas lines can be put through it instead of drilling through the side. I ...

Re: Newbie co2/keg question (help!)
I think mystery is solved. Just went to get a taste of the root beer and nothing came out of the tap at all, lol . I pulled the release valve and nothing so I have to guess something is leaking on the keg. I must have not had the lid on properly or like you said, a bad gasket.
I am guessing ...

Re: Newbie co2/keg question (help!)
Thanks Rob. I was actually wondering about the gaskets. I just bought these new and refurbished from the Beverage Factory and they talk about reconditioning the entire thing. They look new from what I can tell. I will try the spray bottle with star san. I remember doing something similar with soapy ...

Re: Big ol' yeast problem
Starter is going well now for last 24+ hours. Thanks for the advice. I am not sure why I didn't give it more time before becoming concerned . Kind of rookie of me I guess .

Newbie co2/keg question (help!)
I just started kegging, literally just this weekend. For my first attempt I wanted to learn so went with something quick and easy - root beer just to get the basics down. I kegged Thursday night and put the co2 going at about 15 PSI. This was a new 5# tank I picked up Wednesday from Praxair. I am ...
