5 gallon carboys for sale
5 gallon glass carboy - $25. I have 3 I'd be willing to part with, I just don't use them as much anymore.

Re: Dry hopping with pellets question
Considering dry hopping with pellets instead of whole hops. Any feedback/advise such as: do I use the same weight ounce to ounce? More or less contact time? Should I contain the pellets in a mesh bag? I'll dry hop at the end of primary, then go straight to serving keg (no secondary). Keeping them o...

Re: Carboys, kegs, bottles, and more
I'd use those 2 fermenters along with the fermentation chamber you posted in the other thread.

Re: Keg Cooler waiting to happen.
I've been debating on using craigslist to find a freezer as I don't have any way to control temps right now. I'd love to have this, what are the exterior dimensions so I know if I need to borrow a truck? I'd take those 2 plastic fermenters also (I'll post that in the other thread also)

Immersion fermentation chiller
Interesting idea for those without the space for a temperature controlled fermentation area.

Kegbot Kickstarter
For those that haven't seen it already. Keg --> in line flow sensor --> (kegbot) --> Android device Keep track of beer left per keg if you use multiple sensors. There is an opensource project to do it yourself and add things like NFC tags to log who's drinking and solenoids to prevent pours without ...

Re: adding vanilla, coffee, and cocoa to brew?
When I added vanilla beans to a stout I bought 2 from the merc and put them in some makers mark while waiting for fermentation to end then dumped it all in secondary. I've done that with and without oak and both times it turned out great. I previously added coffee by brewing a batch and dumping the ...

Re: First Brew: Mixed Results, Suggestions Welcome!
When I was bottling I always used a big rubermaid tub to soak the bottles to get the labels off, then for soaking in star san, hang from a bottle tree to dry. I put the priming solution / sugar water in the bottom of the bottling bucket before racking the beer from secondary and let the whirlpool ef...

I'd start a membership if you're doing the renewal split thing.

There is a water analysis link in the members only forum. I've never filtered mine, but I'm not doing all grain either.

Re: Saison Leftovers IPA
I was wondering what the different calculators do also, the one at www.brewersfriend.com has an option for first wort hopping and for the 2oz of citra it shows IBU: 34.32 for that addition. When it's set to 60 minute boil it becomes IBU: 56.67 for the citra addition. They also have 2 scales listed t...

Saison Leftovers IPA
I found some hops in the freezer that I had sorta forgotten about from some previous batches. I'm thinking about making a "leftovers" IPA and trying out a saison yeast since I don't have great temp control for fermentation yet. I've never really tried building a recipe from scratch before ...
