Re: Want to trade Dark Candi Sugar for Light Candi Sugar

Agreed with Andy. I usually just mix some cane sugar in with a little bit of water to get it in liquid form and then I add it at high krausen or a little after.

Re: Sugars at Natural Grocers

Shopped at Natural Grocers on 23rd St for the first time yesterday. They have quite an extensive offering of sugars - date, cane, beet, raw, turbino, etc. And lots of rolled grains. Will be a good resource for brewing adjuncts. I'm still a Merc man, though. From experience, if you use Succant sugar...

Apollo pellet hops now for sale at Hops Direct

I probably should have posted when I bought my lb of Nelson Sauvin, but I didn't and I made Andy sad, so here you go. From what I can tell, these are super high alpha hops (18%AA+), moderately high oil and are a bit rough when used as a bittering hop (although they have a relatively low CoH). The fl...

Re: KCBM 2010

I'll list as LBG at our competition! I was doing the mini-BOS for cat 19 and I got to try all of Chucks beers, they were all outstanding. I was really fighting for his silver medal winning beer to get the gold, if I would have known they were all his it would have been a lot easier. It is really ama...

Re: 2009 KCBM

I can't wait until I get high enough in the BJCP to be able to be a BOS judge, but I need to pass the test first. :D

Also, I was thinking about making an all pils BW, looks like you beat me to the punch. If you have a spare bottle, I would like to try it sometime.

Re: 2009 KCBM

I got to try Chucks gold medal winning barleywine and it was really freakin tasty. Good thing I had a steward that found us some good beers! As for not winning best of show, I would ask Al, Roderick, Alberta, or Ken Schramm since I had nothing to do with it. If I would have had a say, I might have v...

This has been taken care of. There were not countless messages I never responded to, there was always a stream of back and forth messages. I have sent him what I promised plus a little extra for his trouble, but I don't think his post here was cool at all.

I can get the keg from DJ, I live a few blocks from him. I'll be bringing an American Wheat hopped to about 30IBU's but with 4oz of Amarillo at KO. We finished the other 5 gallons at Wakarusa.

Anyone got any Safale T-58 yeast?

I was wanting to brew with it this weekend and I am out and I get the feeling that no one in KC has it. I have lots of S-04 or S-05 to trade or we can come up with something else if needed. The beers are for Muggs for Juggs if it makes a difference.

Anyone going to Wakarusa this year?

I meet some LBG members last year and we exchanged several tasty beers and I would love to do it again.
