I was leafing through my copy of Zymurgy that came in the mail today and saw Chuck's Barleywine recipe along with a mention of the Brewer's Guild and Free State. Nice!

Would people mind chiming in here just to say if they will be bringing a trinket of two for the raffle? I'd like to get a sense of how big the raffle is going to be. I will be bringing a few beer gadgets and some assorted commercial beers, and maybe some old playboys if I can find them.... . I've g...

Court Avenue, Des Moines
We ate lunch here on the way to Chicago. Nice building in the downtown area near the Capitol. The food was pretty good. I had some fish tacos and Kendra had a greek salad. Since we were driving, we only had a beer each. I had a cask porter, that was pretty tasty. I'm always down for cask beer. They ...

The food was pub fare, but the beer was amazing! I started off with a Dirty Goose, a hoppy brown ale. Next up was...

Chocolate Chip Bourbon Cake
Some people asked about this at the bonfire. There's no beer, but there's Bourbon. That counts for something right? Chocolate Chip Bourbon Cake 1 pkg. chocolate cake mix 1 pkg. instant chocolate pudding 4 eggs 1 cup water ? cup vegetable oil 2 t. vanilla ? cup sour cream 1 cup chocolate chips Bourbo...
