Tampa Bay Brewing
Stopped by the Tampa Bay Brewing company for about 2 hours. Did their 11 flight sampler and all the beers were excellent. Was flying solo, which is never really as fun when you are in a group, but the place was nice, food looked good. Can't really give detailed reviews as I'm just too lazy to do it ...

Re: 5-7gal carboy
Glass is pretty optimal for long-term storage (read as 'secondary') of things like mead, wine and whatnot since glass is not oxygen-permeable. For fermenting, if you are worried about the crap that plastic is made from getting into your body and causing horrific cancers and possibly making you into ...

Re: Pretty Close to a 90 Minute IPA clone
I've already downed 5 gallons of this beer by myself. 4 pints is a pretty good cutoff point for this beer (hint hint Sean). Anything past that I get the "just how many beers have you had tonight?" questions from Monette. I'd love to see what it tastes like if it ever gets a chance to actua...

That is impressive! We knew you were good Barry, but apparently we didn't fully appreciate your abilities! Glad we kept your skills up with the Brewfest glassware!

God I love it when you talk dirty Jensen. Makes my humulone levels rise to such a high alpha. I think that "suck it up you bitch" is the appropriate phrase http://www.alldeaf.com/images/smilies/bj.gif I've been checking around and the prices at EBrew.com aren't exactly the cheapest, but th...

looking for Horizon hops
I've been google'in my ass off and so far the best deal I can find on Horizon hops is $21.59/lb (linky). Does anyone know of anywhere I can get them at a better price, or maybe have some in stock for a trade?

Thanks for the reply Chris. If one company gives an expiration date, I'm trashing it. I'd rather not chance it, besides, it's cheap.

yeah, I also wondered what happened to favoritism. Not like I haven't ever, um, done things for Sean. Apparently I didn't do a good enough job at these things.

does yeast nutrient expire?
I found a container of yeast 'energizer' from B&B that I got back in 2006 when I first started brewing as a freebie from someone I didn't now.
There is no expiration date on it. Is this trash?

Re: OG ended up low... Does anyone have some DME?
I don't have any DME for you, but for only using 8lbs of grain, you got the correct OG for what you brewed. You should be using about twice that amount of grain for a 5~6 gallon batch of beer. If you don't score any DME off the board there is a home brew shop in north Topeka called Ale n Vino. They ...
