You wouldn't want to use a PC cooling fan unless you wire it with a separate DC power supply. The fan is DC and you could have a potential electrical hazard if you use the same AC power source that will run the pump. Plugging into a GFCI is necessary when working around water so you see them in kitc...

If you are looking for QD's and you're on a budget like I am, check out george schmidt's site http://www.brewing.schmidt-house.com/QDs_hose.htm He lists the McMaster-Carr part #'s for easy ordering and you'll find they aren't any more expensive than garden hose fittings. I use the same ones and I'm ...

BYO Stirplate

Just finished my homemade stirplate and I'm happy with the results. I visited several brewboard threads and worked out a wiring scheme that worked best for my needs. The concept is the same as Bill's: it's a case fan from an old pc with a powerful magnet salvaged from a SCSI hdd attached to it, then...

Love the idea of the brew calender. Last year was my first year brewing and one of my many learning experiences was planning ahead so I could actually drink my beers in season. Something about drinking witbier in the fall reminds me of eating tomatoes in the spring, it just doesn't make sense. I pla...

March pump questions

The holidays have been generous and I find myself the proud owner of a new march pump. It's one of those off ebay that comes unwired and without mounting bracket. Question is about the polysulfone head assembly. I've seen many different mounting scenarios where the head has been removed and mounted ...

I've actually heard of several instances in which a keg explodes in some form or another due to lack of venting in the rim. Definitely sage advice for those who are piecing together an all grain rig that includes keggles. Homebrew just doesn't taste as good when you're picking shrapnel out of your b...

Looking for brewing equipment

Hi all. I'm new to the club and looking for any brewing equipment I can get my hands on. Fermentors, carboys, kettles, siphoning/bottling, etc. I need it all. I'll pay cash for your extra stuff that may be collecting dust. Thanks.
