I began a Belgian Ale WLP550 yeast starter yesterday, it's in a 2 qt jar w/ about 1 qt of wort. I planned to brew today but now can't, and won't for a couple of weeks.
Suggestions on a relatively easy way to store it to revive then?

Re: Brew Pubs and Restaurants in TX
Agreed overall with the NBNW brewpub in Austin. Went there late Jan 2009. I enjoyed the stout, and they had a bourbon barrel stout on tap too. Good also. We just ate appetisers, but all were great. Atmosphere-wise, it felt a little like a GB. It's out in the suburbs but easy to get to. I'd recommend...

Re: The Beers of Belize
Sorry to hear of your shi**y beer experiences. Generally, it seems that the closer the equator, the crappier the beer. True?
Anyway, i think the warm weather would greatly outweigh a temporary shortage of palatable beer...

propane burner problem
Recently I was using my propane outdoor stove. In the middle of cooking, the flame died down to barely lit when it should have been full blast. The tank is not empty, works fine on my brewing burner. I tried again later, the problem remains. Is the regulator bad? I'd like to get an opinion back befo...

Also, a lb of whole hops, let me know what you have to sell.

spent grain bread review
This is a great recipe. Made it today after brewing an amber. Excellent flavor and eye appeal. Modifications: no need to further grind the spent grain. add the 2 cups of water at the end a little at a time. With the moisture from the spent grain, i ended up adding less than 1 cup of water. Use a Kit...

more on tastings and seminars
Thoughts on commercial tastings: I suggest that we make it our standard practice to have a set meeting structure with no exceptions. Can we do this? Here?s an idea: Seminars, 7 ? 7:30 pm Commercial tasting, 7:30 ? 8 pm Bus meeting, 8 ? 8:30 pm Socializing, 8:30 ? whenever We should have someone work...

Wort coctails?
We enjoyed the belgian wit wort from our hydrometer samples so much today that we made coctails with it. The winner: 6 oz wit wort and a shot of gin, one ice cube, gently stirred. What to name the new creation... Wit Wanger? Half Wit? I've heard of hot scotchies. Has anyone else tried wort as a mixe...

upper midwest brewpubs
We found a couple of brewpubs on our Dakotas and NE tour. Firehouse Brewing Co, Rapid City SD, 5 or 6 styles on tap, nothing out of the ordinary but still tasty, the food was great. Platte Valley Brewery, Kearney NE. Small beer joint, smokey, rough patrons, excellent atmosphere. Only had time for an...

Not sure where this fits on the forum, but we just rented American Beer on Netflix. A great documentary. Armed with a minivan and a camera, five thirsty friends set out from New York City on the ultimate road trip -- a self-guided tour through 38 breweries in 40 days. Sampling brews from Vermont to ...
