Re: WLP099 White Labs Super High Gravity Ale Yeast

I have used the WLP099 White Labs Super High Gravity and have it on slant. I use it for my "panty drop lemonade" (trademark pending to Devin) as well as have made a brown ale (Brown Abomination) in which I tried to push the boundary as to how high octane I could get out of the beer. I don'...

Re: Pretty Close to a 90 Minute IPA clone

I just found a source here in VA that can get the real Dogfish 60 and 90 min ale. I am coming home for a couple of day in April. Anyone interested ?

Re: Calculating Efficiency - Double Check Plz

Just remember your refractometer needs to have an ATM (aromatic temperature modifier) built into it in order to take a reading from hot samples. Some of the cheap ones do not have an ATM and the sample needs to be at 70F to be read.

Re: Calculating Efficiency - Double Check Plz

Looks like you are on the money by the beer math :drunken: My guess is that your percent is a tad high. This is most likely due to the average PPG listing from the table you used. These numbers are averages from many batches of malt. I am betting if you used the Certificate of Analysis from the malt...

Re: Adjusting Lawrence water for pilsner

Real quick way to get a baseline of your water is to go to your local spa shop and get an AquaCheck set of test strips (about $15) http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4152/5070535690_737886bb12.jpg These will test for total hardness (0-1000 ppm), Alkalinity (0-240 ppm) and pH (6.2-8.4). They also test fo...

Re: Keg/Carboy Washer Build

I experimented with different size of holes in the "wands" and also the placement of the holes on the wand. The goal was to get the high pressure steams where the "gunk" line was on the carboy. I wound up using a wand with holes at the tip and at the base. I think they were 1/32t...
