Re: kegerator equipment
I made a keezer (wide, deep freezer) instead of a kegerator and I really do not regret that decision. I'd recommend that over a fridge.

Re: LBG Member Deals
The praxair location is near 27th and Haskell, down a short dead end street. I've noticed price fluctuations as well for both CO2 and propane. I don't ever weigh the tanks so I'll just have to trust the other members who say they fill it up more than Blue Rhino. The cheapest non-Praxair location I'v...

Re: Pilsner yeast
Well, IF I had to use the dry, I was going to do several rounds of culturing to get it up to a 3L starter. The packet into 100mL, then into 500mL, and finally into 3L.

Pilsner yeast
I was thinking of doing my first pilsner this weekend but, while I love JWL and their attempt to bring a store to Lawrence, I can't find any pilsner yeast. Well...any wet stuff, that is. I've never used the dry and don't really want to take the chance. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had a strain ...

Re: CO2 Tank Refill Locations
What are the advantages to refilling instead of swapping, aside from getting the same bottle back? How many extra lbs do you get in a propane refill? I asked the praxair guy to refill my tank instead of swap once and he gave me the stink eye and told me some excuse why he couldn't that day.

Quad?
Hey guys,
Wondering if there's a 'guild-approved' quad recipe floating about. Also, any thoughts on brewing one of these would be appreciated.

Re: Yeast Recommendation for Wheat-Wine?
In my experience, washing yeast is really, really easy and no harder or more risky than any other standard brewing step. I highly recommend it. After you take everything off the yeast cake, pour two quarts to a gallon of boiled, cooled water on top and then shake it all up. Wait a while till there i...

What is the main distinction between 1056 and 1272, American v. American II?

That's actually really helpful, Frank. I always worry about my solution of starsan when it starts to cloud but I suppose I should just check the pH to make sure. Thanks!
