2 row vs 6 row?
What are the major differences? What do people normally brew with? I heard 6 row generally has higher lintner values. Is this true?

Re: Conslidated LBG Shared Brewing Recipes.
Q: is this for beer recipes, food recipes, food-with-beer-in-it recipes, or spent grain recipes?

Re: Electronic Thermometers for Brewers
That looks like a really, really cool article for a DIY temp controller for an electronics geek. It's a little past my skill range though...

Re: Erlenmeyer vs. Growler
Thanks Jim. I read that book from the library a while back but couldn't remember what it said. I really should buy it sometime.

Re: Erlenmeyer vs. Growler
So what I'm talking about are called 'laboratory shakers' and they look like this. Our lab uses 6 4 L flasks at a time and then cranks it to 260-300 RPM depending on if we're growing yeast or E. Coli.

Re: Erlenmeyer vs. Growler
I believe the most beneficial thing you're doing by using a stir plate is keeping the solution of yeast, sugar, water, and oxygen it constant motion creating a near perfectly disbursed overall solution. Everything (Water, alcohol, yeast, sugar) has a slightly different destiny and as such there is ...

Erlenmeyer vs. Growler
I have a question about oxygenation levels of yeast starters and their dependency of the containing vessel. Specifically, I have a stir plate at home that I use for my yeast starters. I have a 1 L flask that is turning out to be too small for what I'm growing in to. The next step up would be a 2 L f...

Propane and propane accessories
I was curious where the cheapest place to exchange/refill in Lawrence is. I have a recent 20# blue rhino tank that probably only has one more boil in it. I've seen they're about $17 for refills at WallyWorld but I've heard rumors they don't fill up the full 20#. Does praxair do propane refills? On a...

I have done an 'internal' PID-style control element if you're interested in some pointers.

Re: Can you I.D. an O.D.?
Although, I gotta be honest, just reading the topic I thought you were interested in identifying a yeast cell count from its optical density.
Not quite what you had in mind.

Tap recommendations
I built a collar onto my keezer and now I'm looking for the shanks and faucets to make the taps. I've noticed that there are several metals used, ie. brass, SS, chrome-plated something, and wondered what some general choice-advice would be. Should I stick to SS for durability? And what about Perlick...

Re: No Boulevard Chocolate Ale for 2013
I had two bottles from last year and they were part of the recalled/refunded batch. They tasted like PB+Js which was certainly interesting but not exactly what I was looking for.

Re: Can you I.D. an O.D.?
I, personally, wouldn't put a 3/16 line on a 1/4 tee. You might consider trying it but don't do it without several zip ties or at least two clamps. It's not really designed for that and I would be worried about light to heavy leaking.

General tips for big beers and/or belgians
Howdy all I'm getting set to make some big beers in the near future, a strong golden and a trippel. This is my first attempt at either style so I would sincerely appreciate any sort of advice for making these big, delicious beers extra delicious. And possibly extra big. Specifically, I've heard they...
