Re: Motorizing a grain mill . . . . . . without a drill

It was a number that a few people around on the web calculated. With all the research I did before I built mine, I read time and time again people's accounts of motorizing their own grain mills and each time, if they had a motor down on the low range of torque, they couldn't start it if grain was a...

Re: Motorizing a grain mill . . . . . . without a drill

I motorized my grain mill and love it. Just need to find you a gear motor that has an rpm of 100 to 200 and a minimum of 30 in-lb torque. You could do as low as 16 in-lb but you would have to have the mill running before you added grain as you wouldn't have enough torque to start once grain is in b...

Re: CO2 Tank Refill Locations

Ah, I was not aware of the OPD. So the tanks are really 20 lb nominal, 17 lb actual now. What I was getting at though was how some companies are reducing the amount of propane in their cylinders (Blue Rhino fills to 15 lb according to their website) in order to keep the price similar. Having a tank ...

Re: CO2 Tank Refill Locations

You might try contacting some farmers co-ops in the area to see if they refill propane tanks. I personally have not done it around here but my father-in-law (who lives in Iowa) takes his propane tanks to his local co-op and they refill the tanks for him. This allows him to get them filled up to the ...

Re: Free motor

There are no RPM or torque specs listed on the disposal. It does say that it's a 6.9 amp motor though. I'm looking to get rid of it, nothing in trade. I just didn't want to throw it away if somebody thought they could get a use out of it. There is no power cord as I had to use the one that was on it...

Free motor

Last night I replaced our garbage disposal with a new unit. The old one's blades were rusty and dull but otherwise the unit had no problems. It's a 1/2 hp Badger 5; I have no plans for it. If someone is interested in having it to use the motor for a grain mill or something, send me a message and we ...

Kegerator shelf

I'm just about finished making a bi-level shelf for my side-by-side kegerator. Both shelves are plywood; the bottom shelf rests on the hump in back and has two 2x4 legs in front. The top shelf is freestanding with PVC pipe legs. I am wrapping both plywood shelves with galvanized steel, primarily to ...

I need to have dbuscher's Kentucky Breakfast Porter recipe. I can't go on much longer without it. Surely I'm not the only one.

Re: New helpful item at our local HomeDepot.

There is something that can be done to (in theory) prevent the cracks from propagating and the lids from failing in the first place. Get yourself a spiral bit or round file and use it in a rotary tool to round and gently enlarge the tip of the vee. You'll want it to look similar to an old-fashioned ...
