Re: 23rd Street Brewery episode up - with LBG cameo appearan

Many thanks to my club testers. I think - stress think - this is working now. Seems that once our system was migrated to a newer account-type, their previous player stopped functioning. If it's still not working, please let me know and I'll pass the word on to the provider. Sorry for the hassle! -Sa...

Re: Comparison/substitution sugars for priming

We opened the first of our priming sugar experiments this evening. It's a pumpkin ale, which the base recipe specified to use brown sugar. Instead, I opted to rack off 1/2 the batch and bottle it with one type of priming sugar, then rack off the remaining half using a second type of priming sugar. T...

Re: 23rd Street Brewery episode up - with LBG cameo appearan

Thank you for the information. It makes no sense - in the same way that the Sunflower Broadband DVR mystery makes no sense - where for some reason and with no warning scheduled "record series" programs disappear but only for CBS and NBC network shows.* Has anyone who is experiencing this p...

Re: 23rd Street Brewery episode up - with LBG cameo appearan

I'm getting a report of problems viewing the video. It had an error earlier today in the player that our provider has fixed. It plays fine for us. If you're having difficulty, please PM me and let me know what system you are using, and whether you're viewing through iTunes subscription or straight o...

Re: Seeking suggestions for brewpubs for Season 3 vidcast

Awesome list, Sean!
Three of those mentioned are on my "to be contacted" list. Not saying which ones, but there is every possibility I'll be bringing some tasters of a pecan beer to the January meeting. :bounce:

Seeking suggestions for brewpubs for Season 3 vidcast

Yep, it's that time. Travel by the Pint is getting ready to... well... travel! First up is a trip south to the Shreveport LA/Ocean Springs MS/Mobile AL area. If anyone knows of a great craft brewery or brewpub we should visit while we're there or on the drive there and back, please let me know. That...

Re: Comparison/substitution sugars for priming

You will not gain much flavor in bottling with different sugars since the amount is so small. Chris, That may be true, but it's another variable that affects the outcome of the final product. I'm working on a few things now. First up for priming is a pumpkin ale. My base recipe (a published recipe ...

Re: Comparison/substitution sugars for priming

I stumbled across this web site that seems to lay the groundwork I need to do calculations.

http://www.brewery.org/library/YPrimerMH.html

I looks like I'll need to do a few tests and layer in a bit of guesswork. But doable.

Comparison/substitution sugars for priming

Assuming that the amount of priming sugar used during bottling depends on the particular style of beer being brewed, and that the specific quantity of priming sugar added depends on the particular sugar (corn sugar vs. DME, etc.), what is the best way to determine the amount of priming sugar to use ...

Re: Calculating Efficiency - Double Check Plz

Just remember your refractometer needs to have an ATM (aromatic temperature modifier) built into it in order to take a reading from hot samples. Some of the cheap ones do not have an ATM and the sample needs to be at 70F to be read. Jason Right. But two drops cool a heck of a lot faster than enough...
