Does anyone know of a place where I can purchase stainless steel nipples and elbows? I would like to purchase local if possible, I know that they are available on line.
thanks.

Re: Henry T's opening a brewery.....(My thoughts)
Frank, After reading the article this morning I could not agree with you more. Looks to me to be a business plan that is doomed to fail. Where is the passion for better beer? It is not there, and that is the key ingredient for success in this kind of business. The business owner does not love beer, ...

Jake's Sweet Potat-ale
Jake's recipe of the sweet potato beer that many of us brewed last month is on tap at the Free State Brewery right now! Go down and get some! It is a very good beer, well balanced, and the color is superb! Congratulations Jake!

Just a note concerning communication about club events. Not everyone is on facebook. Please post meeting changes, such as the sweet potato beer tasting, on the forum in addition to putting them on whatever social media you feel you need to post to. Pictures posted on facebook are also not seen by th...

Re: Burst Wyeast pac
Never had one come open during sanitation, but I did smack one one on the B&B counter once and it sprayed all over Alberta! She gave me another pack (that i smacked later), but didn't seem to happy about it.

Re: Honey locust beer?
There are a few persimmon trees on KU campus. You can also purchase them at Checkers during certain times of the year. I have seen them at the farmers market. Be sure they are completely ripe, though. An unripe persimmon will take all of the moisture out of your mouth. Pucker up! A ripe persimmon is...

Re: Looking for a 5lb C02 tank
If you don't have any luck here, Praxair sells used tanks. Kind of pricy, but like they told me, they will exchange them for sure,(they sell them full) whereas a tank from elsewhere may not be exchangeable.

I would take the digital one if no one else has spoken for it. I can pay cash at the meeting or can trade a carboy. I will have several sizes of carboys at the swapmeet before the meeting Thursday.

Re: Hop growing question
I wonder if that advice is more for cooler growing climates. If you cut everything back until late May, I think you may have trouble with the crop burning up before it gets to a decent size. Disclaimer: I have no real knowledge, I am just making a guess based on weather differences between here and ...

Allen,
My experience is much the same as yours, sampling my own and others beers, over and over and over..., I would recommend that you talk to the brewers at FSB, they are always very helpful when I ask them questions about brewing and I am sure that someone over there could help you out.

Re: Dry hopping with pellets question
I am using a bag these days, after years of clogged fittings, etc. I use approximately the same amount as with leaf, just because I don't know any better. Also you can rig a pretty simple filter to filter particles out when you keg. I have a very small water filter that works great for that.

Re: kegerator setup
Best thing that I ever did was get tap handles for the outside of the fridge and drill holes in the side for mounting. Cobra taps are a mess. And with them inside the refrigerator, the inside of the refrigerator becomes a mess. Drilled a hole in the other side to bring the gas into the refrigerator,...
