Al Lowe says save early, save often! Can't have too many backups when it comes to dispensing beer, problems only occur after 5pm with a thirsty crowd.

Great post Chris! I find that I go through quite a bit of Starter media in my process. I have always felt a minimum of 2 liter starter is needed, to not only activate cells, but to actually grow more...you have me thinking-- and saving in some starter juice in upcoming batches!

We need to make a wide one than fits near the outer inside diameter of a 26gal MoreBeer pot. We would like to pump-recirculate whirlpool while chilling, without having the copper in the middle pot. Never thought of 1/4 inch... Surface area of the dia, compared to 1/2 inch... Hmm, choices...

The 10:1 ratio of DME to Distilled water (roughly 1.040) is what I use in my canning process of making wort starters.
