I picked this up from John a while back to do something with, and never did.

Runs cold, but it needs a new tap tower to be all it can be.

Replaced the old foamboard under the top and the expanding foam (was messy) and the old top with new 1.5" foamboard and 1/2" MDF for the top (still needs painted). Added an analog temp controller ($23 ebay) and this baby works like a champ!

Currently set so liquid temp of water jar is 58F (3F differential on controller), the California Common I have in there is holding at ~62F. I need to run the temp probe wires in a neater fashion, but for now it works. The gray one reads ambient air temp (same as the temp controller does). The white and red thermometers are measuring the water jar temp (have 2 just to double check the accuracy of both, one will go away eventually).
This baby will get down to ~ 42F during the summer (and I'm sure much colder during the winter), so it will work for lagering too!

Congrats on the rebuild job, looks great! But I am even more impressed with the blow off tube-- that thar is a maaaan project!

It's time to pass this on. I would like it to go to another LBG member if possible.
I'm moving and am getting rid of some brewing stuff (see my other post).

This thing works great as a fermentation cooler. As in my above post (Oct 28, 2008, wow!), I added a wood top and a temp controller.
The 3rd pic below shows that the large plastic fermenters fit great inside.

I haven't brewed for the last 3 years, but I tested this the other day while cleaning out brewing gear and it still works great!

You will need to come to Gardner (KS) to pick it up.

I've been debating on using craigslist to find a freezer as I don't have any way to control temps right now. I'd love to have this, what are the exterior dimensions so I know if I need to borrow a truck? I'd take those 2 plastic fermenters also (I'll post that in the other thread also)
