I have religiously paid $20 at Home Depot. Not sure about the full amount. I will look for the closest praxair station next time.

The praxair location is near 27th and Haskell, down a short dead end street. I've noticed price fluctuations as well for both CO2 and propane. I don't ever weigh the tanks so I'll just have to trust the other members who say they fill it up more than Blue Rhino. The cheapest non-Praxair location I've found is over at the Checkers where a "20#" is $15. Again, I can't comment on whether or not it's the 'full' 17# or less.

"Inflationary pressures, including the volatile costs of steel, diesel fuel, and propane, have had a significant impact on the cylinder exchange industry. In 2008, to help control these rising costs, Blue Rhino followed the example of other consumer products companies with a product content change. We reduced the amount of propane in our tanks from 17 pounds to 15 pounds."

this is from the bluerhino website. if you have any questions, use your grain scale to weigh the tank, subtract the tare weight stamped on the tank and that is how much propane is in the tank. the difference is about 12% or $1.76 in value on a $15 tank.

I started swapping the 20lb tanks at Price chopper. They use Praxair, 17 lbs, $16.

I was just at praxair the other day and, after the hard and diligent work of Orvel, they now have a fixed price schedule!

I paid $14 for my 20#!

yep, I was there on Monday and they had the new prices correct.
Really like the elimination of the haz-mat fee.

Me too! I only own two tanks, so I rarely got two tanks filled to help with that cost.

I just stopped into the new store in OP called the BrewLab http://www.brewlabkc.com/ I spoke breifly with the owner and he was open to the idea of giving us a discount. I told him somebody from the guild would reach out to him.
