I need some dry yeast, SafAle English Ale yeast #S-04. The LHS does not have any? I could sub if anyone knows. It is for a Brewfest Chocolate Stout, about 8% ABV.
Thanks,
James

Re: need yeast
I find it disturbing that they store their powered yeast at room temperature. I usually keep some 04 on hand should the need arise again. Do you rehydrate it, or sprinkle it right on the wort?J & T Brews wrote:...we decidded to go to Baccus and Barleycorn...

When I use dry yeast, I rehydrate it for 15-30 min before pitching.Phoenix wrote:I find it disturbing that they store their powered yeast at room temperature. Re: need yeast
Yea, I usually let the water set to room temp, then rehydrate and let set, don't really time it, then pour it into the bottle.
I wish the home brew stores would take as much care with their products as we do!
Thanks,
James
