wort cooler $100

#1 Post by toolman » Tue Jul 16, 2019 5:30 pm

wort cooler that is used with a counterflow cooling system to provide extra cooling when the ground water temperature is higher in the summer (days like these). it has an Igloo Industrial Water Cooler (not to be confused with the cheaper orange colored coolers), a 50 ft 1/2 copper coil with garden hose fittings on each end, a garden hose switchable bypass of the coil, and a submersible water pump to circulate the icy water in the cooler. this cooler has only had ice water in it twice since new, it is very clean.
to use it, fill the cooler with about 10 lbs of ice, add some water, switch the bypass to direct and use the 80 degree tap water to bring the wort temp down as much as the tap water can, then switch the water flow through the igloo cooler to allow your 80 degree tap water to be cooled down to a lower temperature. when i used it, i was recirculating (whirlpooling) until the ground water wouldnt bring the temp down any more, then switched to the cooler when transferring from the boil kettle to the fermenter. works great, just went to a different setup. $100

no holds unless you are on your way to lawrence to pick this up. pm.
