Granite City "Brewery"

#1 Post by Joe Yoder » Tue Jul 07, 2009 1:37 pm

I hate to even suggest by adding them to this forum that Granite City is even a brewery. It is not. It is a fermentary at best.
Recently visited the one in Wichita. Food and Service were fair. Think Applebees, but a little better. I didn't have a beer, because the idea of shipping wort in a container to be fermented at a different site is just WRONG!! Wait staff doesn't get the fact that they are not a brewery, in fact the head hostess is called the brewmaster. She might add pellet hops to a fermenter, but that is the extent of her brewing.
If given a choice (I wasn't in this case) go somewhere else.

I don't even know why you wasted the rest of your post with your time. The heading and this part of the quote says it all. It is kind of like the forbidden zone on Planet of the Apes, of course here I go wasting too much space on a total waste of time.

I went to the same Granite City last week with Monette. Since we are moving back to Auburn soon I figured I'd have to go and check it out. The food was good, our server was a bit of a tard, the prices were kinda high.

Now, the beer....
I tried the Duke of Wellington IPA. I would call it a California Pale Ale more than an IPA. Hops were subtle.
I tried the Brother Benedict's Bock. Wasn't bad, wasn't great either
I tried their Pale Ale (don't remember the name). I don't even remember what I thought of it.

If I remember right, they use the same hops in all of their beers.
:?

I won't be going back. besides, the guys wearing the leather deck shoes, no socks, peach colored 3-button shirts tucked into their khaki shorts with belts ain't really my kinda fellers.
Thanks!
