I still can't believe there hasn't been a review of the Freestate.

How was your experience? It's pretty rare that I have anything less than a good time there. The law of averages will catch up on occasion. I have had poor service (very rare), some beers that I do not like (more my sense of taste than poor creation), and some food (again, my taste).
I love the Oatmeal Stout, and John Brown. Always look forward to the seasonals (Barleywine, C3, Lemongrass Rye, Porters, Ironman, etc), and the food is very good. Lots of local ingredients, the specials are great, and many good staples like Fish and Chips, and the sandwiches.
Just an excellent example of a great brewpub. They've been around for a long time, and there is a reason for it.
How would you rate: 1(bad) - 10 (excellent)
The Beer (of course): 9
The Food: 8
The Service: 9
Additional Comments: Considering that I have had just about every beer they have served in the last 10 years, you should just come find me on Monday nights ($1.75 special pints) and ask.

when i travel, i make it a point to seek out brewpubs.
i cant even tell you how many ive been to over the years
100+ might be a good guess.
we are so damn lucky to have the free state in our backyard.
i would rank it in the top 10 of all that i have been to.
the fact that one of their beers ranks 26th in the top
50 beers worldwide (according to ratebeer.com) is something.
