Goose Island Bourbon County Stout

Ooofph.. I do like this.

Shared a bottle with Bill a couple of nights ago.

Black and opaque, thick as oil when poured with a short lived dark tan head. Huge lacing stuck to the glass.

Big aroma of bourbon, molasses, tobacco, sweet malt, caramel.

First taste is totally dominated by bourbon, the second is when I noticed the malt and caramel come through. vanilla, oak, tobacco are also present.

for a 13% beer, the alcohol wasn't as big as it could have been.

Love it.

Ohhh! Bourbon County Stout.

How sweet thou are.

Like chocolate laced molasses and creamy manna falling from high.

If they pushed you any further you'd become overpriced soy sauce, but they stopped you in time and the result is divine.

Why would a man named BourbonDrinker love a beer called Bourbon County Stout that is aged in Bourbon barrels?!

I'm on my fourth pack of this stuff and I can't stop.

Someone PLEASE, please... please... tell me we're bottling our bourbon barrel imperial stout soon!

It is not easy to find. I know of a stash in Lawrence. It is at the Alvin's on 6th, next to HyVee. Damnit. Now the last of it in town will vanish. If I only had just kept my mouth shut.

Hey Devin, you may also want to tell Will the price, so the sticker shock doesn't give him a heart attack. This is an expensive, albeit entirely worth it, brew. Especially since it is only a 4 pack.

Here in Wichita it is all over the place. I think on 'my' side of town no one is willing to pay that price for good beer :) Though Schlitz and PBR flies off the shelves.
Thanks!
