I must admit one of the most important brewing pieces of equipment I use is the Kerr wide-mouth mason jar for canning steril wort. That way you have yeast starters (just used my last one from 3 years ago) whenever you need them. Having true sterile wort on hand at a moments is really a nice, non-hectic, piece of mind. I have a recipe too, if anyone needs it.

Please do post the recipe or PM to me. Rob did a pretty cool presentation on pressure canning wort for starters. I have been keeping an eye out in the paper for presure canners, and will go searching through the garage sales this spring to find one. This is a realy cool way to keep starter wort for those of us that want things done NOW.

i agree having steile wort on hand is awesome, but can be done w/ out the pressure cooker, resulting in a much lighter wort. its called cold packing, my stepmom has been doing it longer than ive been alive. works great .

pm me for more,,,,cheers shane
