Beer bread recipe

#1 Post by J & T Brews » Fri Mar 11, 2011 9:31 pm

Steve, bread recipe from the March Meeting. From the USA weekend March 4-6 2011.
3 ½ cups flour
3 tbs. sugar
1 tb baking powder
1 ½ tsps. Salt
12 ozs. Beer
One egg
Oven rack in the middle, 375 degrees, baking time about 45 minutes.
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in bowl. Add beer and turn with a fork, knead on a floured surface, place on baking sheet, cut a slit on top and brush with egg wash.
I added an egg to the mix in each of the three, and rolled the double IPA in flour and oats, and the smoked ale was just brushed with the egg wash. I also used whole wheat flour with Boulevard stout beer.
