Chocolate Chip Bourbon Cake

#1 Post by pc » Sat Nov 10, 2007 1:15 pm

Some people asked about this at the bonfire. There's no beer, but there's Bourbon. That counts for something right?

Chocolate Chip Bourbon Cake

1 pkg. chocolate cake mix
1 pkg. instant chocolate pudding
4 eggs
1 cup water
? cup vegetable oil
2 t. vanilla
? cup sour cream
1 cup chocolate chips
Bourbon Syrup (see below)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a Bundt pan.

Combine eggs, water, oil, vanilla and sour cream in mixing bowl and stir well. Add dry ingredients and beat for 2 minutes. Stir in chocolate chips. Pour into prepared Bundt pan and bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes in pan, then turn onto plate or cake platter.

Bourbon Syrup

? cup water
2/3 cup sugar
1 t. vanilla
1/3 cup Bourbon

Stir together water and sugar in small saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook without stirring for 5 minutes. Cool syrup to warm, then add vanilla and Bourbon. Brush over hot cake until completely absorbed.

Thanks for posting the recipe Pete. That stuff was awesome. It's the pefect dessert to have with an imperial stout.
