Tasting – Dale Wheeler
Fall beers
1.Lakefront Brewery - “Pumpkin Lager”
2.Ska Brewing - “Euphoria Pale Ale”
3.Avery - “Old Jubilation Ale” - an English strong ale
4.Breckenridge - “Autumn Ale”
All the beers are available at Jensen's.

Seminar – Andy (and Jason) – Club equipment
The club's two new 4-tap circuit-plate jockey boxes – you can serve warm (ambient temperature) beer when the cooler is packed with ice.
Four taps, at least 3 with y-joins for either pin-lock or ball-lock kegs.
All line ends are color-coded inside and outside the box.
Each time you check out the box, you'll get a bottle of beer line cleaner and instructions. When you're done, you'll fill the system with a static charge of the beer line cleaner and return CLEANED to Andy.
The club has put about $800 into the boxes, so take care of them. Check the forum for new calendar and checkout procedures.

Special beers and announcements before the meeting:
Sally is brewing Herb Ales – Two different IPAs with Thai basil added at different times during the brewing process. Try them and talk to her after the meeting.
Chris – has a ticket for KC Beer Fest on Saturday at the Legends. See him after the meeting.

October Business Meeting - Dale for Ellen

New people:
Frank - just getting started. Has brewed 9 (!) batches in 4 months
Mark – been brewing about a year, friend of Angelo
Cassandra – from Southern California
Welcome!

Clean up crew
Matt, Logan, Nicholette – thank you

Treasurer's Report – Lisa for Clint
We currently have 4552.78 in the bank. Brewfest totals: $5590 from ticket and koozie sales. $6052.42 from bands, food, site rental, logistics and equipment (includes jokey box materials). Net: $462.42 loss.
Jeff – there are glasses left over from Brewfest. Bring your money - ½ dozen boxes left over. Glasses $1 each, 6 for $5.
Chris – we should make the jokey boxes a capital expense and not part of the Brewfest event expenses.
Jeff – it would be nice to have a report a couple weeks before the Brewfest to let folks know that there are still so many tickets available.
Joe – but it was also nice having fewer people at Brewfest.
Dale/Lisa - We need to talk about this next month and in post-Brewfest meetings.

Librarian's Report – Devin
We lent out a record number of books last month, and there are a record number of books over-due. Come see me if you want to extend your check out.

New Business -
Club only competition with KC clubs. Inter-club competition suggestion.
John McKinney, KC Brewmeisters, suggestion: create an ingredient list to post to the 4 area clubs and ask for submissions, competition in April or May of 2011. We could get suggestions from a non-competing club (someone from Minnesota, perhaps) for the ingredient list and/or style. Maybe include the Topeka club. This would be a for-fun, non-sanctioned competition.
Is there intererst? Yes.
Details: we provide as a club one beer – we get together as a group to brew. Or, if we have a style and list of ingredients, we could brew as individuals.
Do we want to come up with a mini-competition within the club? And then we come together as a club to brew the winning recipe?
Andy – years ago, we did this at Ren Fest and it was a lot of logistics, and it took a lot of time (2 days) to judge the competition. It was fun, though.
Logan – St. Louis brew club might be interested, too, maybe the following year.
Dale – it's a great idea, but we've never successfully done something like this.
Jeff – but it would be a great thing to accomplish, to work between clubs.
There'll be additional details and call for volunteers (for LOGISTICS, not just for participation) on the forum. This will take people, people. Be willing to step up and help, please.

Officer nominations – next month.
President, Vice President, Brewmeister (somebody correct me if I got that list wrong). Other positions (Treasurer, Secretary) also available if anyone's interested.

New business -
Christmas party, December 11th. Details will be posted on the forum, including directions, signups, planning, etc.
Dale will be working some details.
Jeff – are we gonna have a bus? Dale, yes I'm working on that.
Kim Booth got a letter from Stoney Point (the party location on Dg Co. 460 north of Baldwin) about a bus company they use – she'll get that info to Dale and follow up.

Brewer of the Year Award
Discussion on what to do for next year, since it never happened this year.
Andy – we need to modify it. We have enough people in this club that participate in different ways, it all comes down to service.
Joe – why don't we appoint a committee? Joe, Andy, Rob, Wendy. They'll put something on the forum.

Request for assistance:
Matt – Jason has been hosting 11 of Matt's 5-gal kegs in his cold room that need to be moved (until their ultimate use?). Please help Matt get those out of his cold room. Thanks!

Motion to adjourn. Seconded, passed.
Good night, folks!
