Tasting: cider - club owns a fruit press, club members can use it out if you want to press your own.
Crispin - a brand to try, but wasn't available for the tasting. Cider with belgian yeast.
Lots of discussion: we should start a thread on the forum (yeast, apple varieties, etc.)
1st cider: sweet - WoodChuck Hard Cider
2nd cider: more tart, more wild - Ace Cider (from California)
3rd cider: a perry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perry) - made with pears rather than apples - Fox Barrel Pear Cider

Chris: Kansas City Bier Meisters home brew competition coming up - we (LBG members) should enter and get our names on the winners list. Come out and help with judging, participate in discussions, presentations, tour of Boulevard Brewery, talk by Schlafly's brewer. Banquet dinner at the end. This year's theme: local beers, local categories: American wheat beer.

Bier Meister: Chris Stinger nominated. Angelo nominated. Angelo wins.
Librarian: Jeff Jensen nominated. Ted from Angler's nominated (Ted is also not present at the meeting). Jeff proposes keeping the books down at the shop and having the staff there know to let people with LBG membership cards check books out during business hours. Seconded. Jeff wins.

Motion to retain Clint Wedel as treasurer by acclamation for his second term. Motion seconded and passed.

Announcements:
Brick: 23rd Street will have their home brew competition again in April, winner will brew at 23rd Street, same as last year. Everyone should enter.

Jeff: Chuck is featured in the latest issue of Zymurgy magazine (http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/p ... rent-issue) on Barley Wine, check it out.

Clint: Did we decide to elect a member-benefit liaison? Have we confirmed that the shops on the cards will still honor discounts, also Praxair, confirmed by Orval. Next year's officers will have to create the position.

Orval: talked to the guys at the Weston Brew Company (http://www.westonirish.com/) and they offered to do a brewery tour with food and stuff.

Barry: there's a new gallery in Weston, and I'm showing in May - if we have the tour after the opening, we could then go see my show.

Jeff, Ellen: :shock: thank you. Thanks to Lisa, there are fine examples of former minutes to guide my future efforts.

Me thinks we'll have to do something about relocating that Brewer of the Year tap-handle.... :lol:
