LBG Minutes – July 2011
Tasting
This month’s tasting featured pilsners. Pilsner is style 2 in the BJCP; 2A is German Pilsner, 2B is Bohemian Pilsner, and 2C is Classic American Pilsner. We sampled Left Hand Brewing’s Polestar Pils, Boulevard Pilsner, and Schlafly Pilsner.
Seminar
The seminar was to choose which member’s beer to brew as a club to compete with local clubs. Frank Dillon came through! There will be a group brew Sept. 3, Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Members voted to cover expenses.
Business Meeting
Clean-up was by Jim McG, Matt, Kevin, and others. Thanks!

Brewfest!
Brewfest is September 24! Check the forum for updates and details! Everyone needs to volunteer for something. Check the forum for specific things ahead of time, and please be ready to help during the event. Many hands, light work.
Beverage Committee: Donation form is on the forum; deadline for pledges is August 28. One comp ticket plus option to buy three more for the first keg, after that will be determined. One DD ticket for soda donation.
Logistics Committee: Start time is Noon. Please check the forum for specific things to help with.
Food Committee: KB Smokehouse will cater the BBQ; side donation sign-up list will be online soon – try to make a variety of potluck donations; Friday evening shrimp boil; John will bring coffee for Saturday; Saturday breakfast is *on your own!*; Sunday pancake breakfast by Interstellar Galactic!
Music: Lance Fahey, Lonnie Ray Blues Band, Calamity Cubes, Labretta Suede and the Motel 6, Rumblejetts
Brewing: Dale will coordinate a brewing demonstration on-site.
Upcoming events:
Inter-club competition, about October 1. Frank’s winning recipe will be group-brewed for the main competition.
Great Taste of the Midwest, August 12-14
Brew Fest is September 24. Join a committee and spread the workload so everyone has a great time!
Tallgrass Oktoberfest, October 15. LBG group brew - details to be announced.
