LBG Minutes – November 2011

Tasting
This month’s tasting featured Stout beers, category 13 in the BJCP. Characteristics of stouts and porters are intertwined; stouts are generally stronger and roastier flavored and with higher alcohol content. Tasted were: Left Hand Milk Stout, a sweet stout (13B); Guiness Foreign Extra Stout, a foreign extra stout (13D): and Double Stout Black Ale, an American Imperial stout (13E/F) by Green Flash.

Seminar
We had a show-and-tell of helpful brewing items. Tuck went over his DIY stir plate. Rob explained his step-mash device. Jensen recommends keg lube for o-rings/keg posts and Oetiker crimp clamps for clamping needs. Carter showed his auto-siphon.
