September 27-29, 2001: Great American Beer Festival, Denver, CO. Tickets go on sale July 1 online, August 15 elsewhere.

June Seminar
There was no formal seminar for the month of June. A discussion of the Brewfest took place.

Minutes of the June meeting

Cleanup, Ben & Xan
Xan donates one dozen eggs to the best beer of the meeting

Who brought what:

* godwin ipa (Ken Godwin)
* b2 bitter (Ellen Jensen & Xan Stevens)
* hairydog cider (Rob Dewhirst)
* deviney ipa (Rich Deviney)
* fsb belgian wheat (Free State)
* jensen rye (Jeff Jensen)
* clouston apricot honey ale (Pete Clouston)

Joe had suggested Wells Overlook. Ellen said she would look into it, but later in the meeting, we decided to stick with Clinton.

Jeff suggested we make hours 2-8.

A crowd of 120 seems to be the break-even point.

Must be organized before the BrewFest to avoid last-minute panics.

Gifts for Free State and High Noon for beer donations. Four free glasses and free passes for next year. Ellen will write thank you notes, and Jeff and Rich will deliver.

Consider inviting other clubs to our picnic more aggressively, perhaps even having them donate beer if they want for free tickets.

We had 12 kegs, 500 lbs. Of ice and a 167-gallon horse trough, for future reference.

Treasurer's Report from BrewFest: Barry said we brought in $890 and spent $990 (although there were still some outstanding reimbursements, so we probably lost around $150 on the BrewFest this year. Barry will turn in official report

Food: Dale would like to have someone else cook next year; although, he said he would help out on a consulting basis. Discussed whether to have same food. Consensus was yes; although it was brought up that burgers and brats are easier to deal with. Another suggestion was to have food timed so that it was all done at once and have one meal time. Others said it was nice (especially for those of us out there all day) to have food throughout the day. One suggestion was to have most of the smoked food (ribs, turkey, pork, chicken etc.) done at one time and serve burgers and brats throughout as people want them.

Band (Tullamore) was excellent. Good job, Rich. Talked about booking same band again. Looked at setting next year's BrewFest for June 1, 2002 if the band was available on that day. Rich was going to check and get back. We would go ahead and sign up for Shelter 7 if Tullamore confirmed.

Talked about developing a "Friends of LBG" to post notices of club events. This would be different than listbot, as non-members may not want to be in on all discussions but may want to know of upcoming events. This would also be a good way to let other clubs know of our events. Xan will work on.

Extra BrewFest glasses are for sale at $1 per glass. Contact Ellen of interested.

Jeff has a couple of roasts left over from BrewFest, uncooked. Dale suggested we use them for an Oktoberfest meal/party for club.

Other meeting notes:
Seminar Suggestion: Have the water filtration guy from the Merc give a talk.

Cider will be the July seminar. Rob D. will conduct.
