Apologies to anyone who got left off of the list, but it means YOU didn't sign the list at the meeting!

Treasurer's report: Barry reports we have a balance of $151 in the LBG account. The ECM has been paid through November.

Future Brewfest plans: Joe will get shelter next month. Joe found a band, Midday Ramblers, for $300, who are available for the Brewfest. They will be playing 10/12 at Free State, from 6:30 - 9 p.m., and Joe invites everyone to come hear them.

Halloween party! on October 27 at Xan's & Rob's, 7:00 p.m. There will be a (smallish) bonfire. Can be a slumber party if necessary (probably will be). There are two roasts left over from Brewfest that can be grilled. Everyone bring a side-dish, beer, and one bag ice per keg that you bring. You can also bring chairs and/or tables. There's a map to Xan's & Rob's on the Hairy Dog Brewery site.

Christmas party! on December 15 at Jeff's & Ellen's, 7:00 p.m. Everyone bring a side-dish and beer.

Blind tastings: American Lager's
Commercial examples. LBG members were served four unmarked beers in sequence, then asked to rank and write comments for each beer. Here are the beers in order of rank:

Foster's: crisp, dry, lack of maltiness and hoppiness, carbonated, clear, lemoney, unremarkable, lack of everything but carbonation, orange-colored in pitcher, very nice head, slight diacetyl, like Michelob, would go great with a dog at Wrigley, no aftertaste, little flavor, smells like wet cardboard or vegetables, filtered through old sweat socks

Coor's Banquet Beer: golden in pitcher, absence of overwhelming taste, more body, a little hoppier, more taste than Budweiser, not bad for swill, winey, driest so far

Budweiser: straw-colored in pitcher, clean, clear, flavorless, carbonated, citrusy, no taste, slight corn finish, unbelievably tasteless

Big Bear Malt Liquor: yuk!, smelled like fart, skunky, off-flavor, rusty exhaust pipe, metallic aftertaste, nasty

Recipes
Beer Marinade. A pungent mixture for broiling, grilling, and roasting. I personally tried this with grilled pork tenderloins, and it was great! Whisk together thoroughly:

1-1/2 cups beer
1/4 cup any citrus or ginger marmalade
1 Tbs. dry mustard
1 Tbs. minced peeled fresh ginger, or 1 tsp. ground
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar or honey

Use immediately, or cover and refrigerate for up to 1 week. I marinated the pork tenderloin for one hour and then grilled over indirect heat until an internl termperature of 155-degrees was reached. The marinade was reduced on the stove and a little cornstarch paste mixed in to make a gravy. Delicious.
