LBG June 2013
Business Meeting

New people –Jesse, Owen and Rob ; welcome!
Clean-up-By Michelle and Chuck; thanks!

Librarian (Bo) -An LBG cookbook is in the works. Please send food recipes for spent grains or cooking beer to Christen(Ophelia ) on the forum or post on the forum. Recipes should be tried first before recommending for the LBG cookbook. If you have suggestions for the “Pairs well with” section for your recipe please include that information as well. The books will be spiral bound with plastic pages and cost $4.99 for 100 page book. Deadline for recipes is June 30th, 2013.
New Books: Water: A Comprehensive Guide for Brewers by John Palmer

Treasurer (Ken) – balance is about $9,500. Membership cards are in. (143 paid members, renew membership, cutoff will be soon.)
Membership Dues
Individual = $20
Family = $30
Check the forum in the Members Only section for the 2013 Membership Dues information
**We are also cleaning up the forum, so no pay (of dues) no vote for the logo contest, and no members-only accessibility to the forum. **

Benefits of being an LBG member:
-Tastings every month
-Access to members-only section on forum (grain buys)
-Access to LBG equipment (jockey box, tents, and trailer)
-Access to LBG library
-Discounts at JWL, Praxair, and Bacchus and Barleycorn.
-LBG events (Mugs for Jugs, Pints for Pets, Maifest, Brewfest, and the Christmas Party)

Secretary (Caryl)- We need a new secretary . Lisa Hallberg and Suzanne McAlister have volunteered.

Quarter Master (Andy)- Mugs for Jugs is June 29th, we need beer donations.

Vice President (Sean)-Need seminar requests. Possible ideas: Switching to All-grain (Angelo), Kegging *in August for brewfest, building a stir plate.

Brewfest: Brewfest will be September 28th @ Bloomington Beach. Committee heads picked

LBG Stickers-
We have 3 different LBG stickers now available to buy (Old logo, Bottle cap logo, and new LBG logo. See Ken at the end of the meeting. ( $1 per sticker or $2 for all three. )

Old Business-
Website-The website is still under some construction. Thank you Courtney Servaes for putting it together. Also the website has changed format to be more mobile- friendly.

Trips:
August 24th Great Nebraska Beer fest (24 interested in going)-
Buy your tickets if you are going. We will get a committee started to organize and arrange a bus and hotel to stay in. $40/person. Put your name on the forum if you are going.

Possible trip #2 to St. Louis move to Fall?
Great Taste of the Midwest tickets group buy of 15 tickets to LBG ($50/ticket). The event will be in Olin-Turville Park in Madison, Wisconsin on August 10th, from 1-6pm. It was moved and voted/approved to buy 15 tickets for LBG. Sign-up on the forum, tickets will be sold off in groups of 2.

Announcements:
Tom Bastian’s Death Metal Stout won 2nd place in Best of Show at that KC Homebrew Competition.
Events:
*June 15th Ottawa Micro Brew Fest-LBG will have a table set up at this event. We need business cards printed to hand out. (2-6pm) $20 for advance tickets and $25 at the gate.

*Mugs for Jugs will be at Kim and Andy Booth’s place on June 29th. This is the 9th year of Mugs for Jugs. Kim is raising money for Komen for the Cure. The will have 200lb of BBQ and up to 14 beers on top. A band will also be playing. The minimum for the fundraiser is $2300 but in the past Mugs for Jugs has raised $4,000.
