The conference is a fun, educational gathering designed to enhance homebrewers' brewing skills and knowledge and increase homebrewing camaraderie.

Tasting: Stout Challenge

Our tasting is different this time. We will taste the stouts that members brought. Thanks to Jim Dick for helping run the blind tasting.

1. Chuck's Oatmeal Stout
Comments: Maybe not enough oatmeal. Very drinkable (all agreed). Enjoyable, good head, appropriate color.

2. Pete's Sweet Stout
Comments: Smokey. Dark chocolate candy bar. Joe remarked that it tasted like the first sample, to which everyone booed.

3. Joe's Foreign Stout
Comments: Lacto bascilic, band aid. Aftertaste, medicinal. Grain comes thru. Very roasty.

4. Dale's Sweet Stout
Comments: Sweet finish. Very good. Washed out in the middle. Over carbonated. A bit thin.

5. Ellen and Xan's Dry Stout
Comments: Banana flavor, fruit. Hefe-stout. Wet cardboard. Black malt finish.

Voting:
Best to Style: Pete's Sweet Stout.
Favorite to Drink: Ellen and Xan's Dry Stout.

Thanks to all entrants for their efforts.
