Message from the President

I just wanted to thank all the members for putting on another successful BrewFest. The weather held out. The beer, food, and music were great. We had another good crowd. I think everyone had a good time.

The days leading up to June 7th were hectic, but everyone worked hard to make it happen. We may not have a lot of members, but what we lack in numbers, we make up for in commitment. Every member played an important role in making this a memorable event.

Special thanks go: to Barry for another great glass logo design. Rob and Ken for manning the bar. Dale for bringing the smoker, and Joe for helping to cook. Chuck for the brewing demonstration. Jeff, Xan, and everyone who worked the door. Doug and George for bringing the tents and tables. And of course, everyone who donated beer and food. If I forgot anybody, I'm sorry.

Minutes of the May 8th meeting
Attendance was low due to the local storm activity.

The wine seminar was postponed.

Meeting was called to order by Vice-President Rob Dewhirst.

Treasurer's Report: Current balance: $1355.25, plus approximately $30 petty cash.
We have 16 paid members. Have you paid your membership dues yet????

Bands:Alferd Packer String Band will perform from 1 - 3. Rob will see if they will play longer/later, and will firm up price.
Joe will call another band to see if they will play the second half of the day.

Food: Members still need to e-mail Rob on side dishes.
Joe, Pete and Dale will meet one week prior to picnic to coordinate food purchases for smoker.
Will need at least 3 of the large Gott water coolers. Volunteers?
Dale will bring his Weber grill, and we need one or two more. Volunteers?
Ken will supply table clothes again this year.

Tents, etc: Chuck will meet with his friend at Anderson Rental to see if we can work a trade or discount for tents and tables.

Brew Demo: Chuck will bring his own equipment and hoses for brew demo.

Games: Everyone needs to bring lawnchairs and lawn games. Rob volunteered horse shoes and kiddie pool. Ken - croquet. Extra water toys for kids would be appreciated.

Beer: Rob will bring all necessary items related to serving kegs.
Joe will check with Free State about getting a keg or two.
Members need to report keg pledges to Rob. So far we have 13.

Glasses: It was reported that Barry has sent artwork to the glass company. Approximately 200 glasses should be ordered. Can anyone confirm?

Tickets:Jeff will be in charge of the gate. Complimentary tickets for band members and other persons of merit can be hand written on business cards, signed by members. Rob will maintain a complimentary ticket list online.

Cleanup Concerns: All members need to pitch in at the end to pack things away and clean up. Kegs will be shut off at 7 p.m. until all the cleanup is done. Members should bring brooms and other cleanup items to help. Can someone bring a lamp to light up the cleanup area?

Meeting adjourned.

No commercial tasting this month.
