LBG Minutes – May 2014
Business Meeting

New people – Lori, Patrick, Brad and Shawn. Welcome!

Clean-up – Nathan, John, Ed and Matt. Thank you!

Announcements:

The Lawrence Brewers Guild meetings are held to discuss new business and to learn about brewing beer and other beverages. If you are attending the meeting for social time, please take your talk outside of the building, so we can't hear you in the sanctuary. Please be considerate during the meetings. You are encouraged to bring your homebrew and a snack for sampling prior to the meetings..

LBG T-Shirts are on sale for $10/each. LBG stickers are 2 for $3. Pint glasses are $1/each.

If you have any LBG related pictures or content appropriate for the new website, please put those items on the Lawrence Brewers Guild Facebook page, or email the content to lawrencebrewers@gmail.com.

New Business:

KS House Bill #2223 is now law. This allows Kansas home brewers to legally share homebrew at club meetings and enter homebrew competitions. (http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/r ... hts-in-ks/).

LBG bylaws: a non-elected position for buying coordinator will not be put into the bylaws at this time.

John with O’Malley Beverage donated a stack of beer tasting notebooks to the Guild.

Start thinking about helping on a Brewfest committee. We will take nominations at the June LBG meeting. We will need people to chair and work on the Logistics, Beverage, and Food committees. Please consider helping out. A lot of volunteers are needed to help Brewfest run smoothly.

Steve Brown is coordinating the music for Brewfest this year. There will be acoustic music on Friday night. The Beverage committee folks should be able to hear much better when checking in kegs. Music on Saturday will consist of blues, bluegrass and jam. =And yes, Lance Fahey will be playing again this year.

Andy Booth has been the LBG Quartermaster since 2005. Due to other commitments, Andy has made the decision to retire as the LBG Quartermaster. The Quartermaster position maintains and repairs all the LBG equipment including, but not limited to, the trailer, jockey boxes, taps, tents, supplies, etc. This position requires someone with previous experience or knowledge of the equipment. If you would like to be considered for the Quartermaster position, please contact Angelo or Andy.

Vice President (Christen)
The seminar tonight is about yeast culturing. The July seminar is “How to build your own stir plate. “ Please bring your homemade stir plates to share. The women’s beer collaboration is kegged and should be ready to share with the women brewers soon. Christen will contact everyone.
