Announcements

Happy New Year!

Thanks to Sean and Sherry for hosting the holiday party. A new year means that it is time to pay annual dues. This January also means new officers need to be elected. The up coming year promises to be exciting with the BrewFest and the Renaissance Festival Homebrew Competition. So be a part of it and become an officer!

Kansas City Bier Meisters Competition

The Kansas City Bier Meisters are holding their 22nd Annual Competition on February 18th and 19th at the Holy-Field Winery in Basehor, Kansas. In addition to the competition, there are other events including a Pub Crawl, speakers, and a dinner.

Entries are accepted from January 15th to February 5th at Bacchus and Barleycorn. Awards will be given in all 28 BJCP categories of beer, mead and cider. You can find more info here.

Minutes of the November 9th Meeting

Cleanup Crew: Rob and Some others volunteered for cleanup. Thank You!

Treasurer's Report: Treasurer made a late appearance, but gave no report.

Light chit-chat about the KC Cellarmasters competition last weekend along with the ritual passing of the "what I brought" list.

Bill Payne and Lloyd Becker from Topeka Hall of Foamers have joined us this evening.

Old Business
Holiday Party: Sean Belden volunteered to host it at the last meeting, but he's not here to confirm that.

Date: 11 Dec? that's the Saturday following when the meeting would otherwise be.

Renaissance Festival Homebrew Competition: Rob confirms that we are running the Renaissance Festival competition next year. We have free reign over how we run it. "Very laid back" -- Rob.

He suggests that we use it as "competition training wheels", don't try to make it a AHA/BJCP sanctioned event. His contact there -- Roger? -- said they'd provide pretty much whatever we need/whatever they can (this includes possibly comping lodging nearby if we need to bring in judges from elsewhere).

Rob volunteered to head a committee; Craig also volunteered himself, and Andy for good measure, several other nods from around the table

BJCP Certification Class: Craig and Dale (Dale who?) have both talked to Alberta recently. Rob said he'd pester Alberta to find out what's happening.

Teach A Friend To Homebrew: Joe Yoder had people over for a "Teach a Friend to Brew Day", but he's not here to tell us about it. It wasn't the official event, but a way to demonstrate all-grain brewing.

New Business
Election of Officers: New officers will need to be elected in January. The LBG by-laws mandate a two year term limit.

Seminars: Rob wants ideas for seminars/presentations at future meetings. Email your ideas to him. (Matt wants to know more about stovetop brewing)

Odds and Ends:

* A spontaneous, undirected seminar on converting a refrigerator into a kegerator broke out.
* Matt made a request for surplus equipment (CO2 tanks, stainless vessels).

Meeting adjourned.
