Announcements

New Officers

New officers were elected at the January meeting. Rob Dewhirst is the new President with Andy Booth taking the post of Vice President. Craig Cottingham assumed the post of Secretary (He was already the Acting Secretary). Pete Clouston is the new Treasurer, and Sean Belden is the new Biermeister. Thanks to everyone for taking an active role in the Brewers Guild.

Minutes of the January 13th Meeting

Cleanup Crew: Sean volunteered for cleanup. Thank You!

Treasurer's Report: Treasurer made a late appearance, but gave no report.

Light chit-chat mostly about Sean's recent trip to Mexico, and the lack of good beer, along with the ritual passing of the "what I brought" list.

Old Business
Holiday Party: Thanks to Sean and Sherry for hosting the holiday party. A good time was had by all.

Dues: Yearly dues need to be paid. The dues will remain the same as last year. $16 a year for individual memberships, $24 for family. If you didn't pay at the January meeting, please bring your money in February.

Seminar Ideas: Rob asked for seminar ideas. Ideas included: brewing software; overview of BJCP certification; kegging; how to make a recipe; setting up an all-grain system; brewing on a budget

New Business
Brewfest: Joe has booked the campsite at Clinton for the last weekend in June (25 June). All the earlier weekends were already taken.

* Bands: Joe called Split Lip Rayfield; their manager wanted $5000 for them to play, but will take our offer of $1000 to the band. Other bands suggested: The Prairie Acre, Uncle Dirty Toes, Lance Fayh (sp?), The Midday Ramblers. Barry suggested setting a flat rate for all bands, rather than negotiating separate prices.

* Committees: Sean will take food & beverage. Craig will take logistics (including tickets). Joe will take entertainment.

It was suggested that we should have more than music and the brewing demo -- perhaps vendor booths?

BJCP Study Classes: Steve brought his study guide and passed it around. Rob suggested having commercial tastings at meetings that feature what we tasted at the last class. Rob also encouraged everyone to work the Kansas City Bier Meisters competition; It's good experience

Website: Sean is going to build a demo of an updated, dynamic website, and look into domain names. Rob says add it to next month's agenda, because this deserves a lot more talking about

Oak Barrel: Rob says if we want to order an oak barrel, now's the time to do it. Various motions and seconds -- we're going to do it. He's going to try to sell the old barrel, proceeds from which to go toward the new barrel.

Lillian Burnhan: Lillian Burnhan passed away recently. Joe brought a condolence card for Dwight Burnham.

Meeting adjourned.

Commercial Tasting - (No Commercial Tasting This Month)

Craig Cottingham-Secretary
