LBG Meeting 2005-07-14
no seminar today
Rob opened the meeting, commenting on the large number of new faces
Stephen Hinton and Brian Jones volunteered to clean up
Stephen noted that Barry placed in the BYO label contest this is 10 years running for Barry
next month, meetings will start at 7:00 (instead of 7:30) business will come first, and we're going to try limiting the business portion to 30 minutes those who don't want to mess with business can wait until 7:30 to show up
this month, instead of a general business meeting feedback on Brewfest (but no solutions -- just descriptions of problems)
Shane: it was hot
Pete thinks that Joe has already reserved the campground for 10 June 2006
Sean:
we got twice as much bread as we needed
the right amount of meat
twice as much potato salad
Barry thinks one of his guests got sick, possibly from poorly-refrigerated cole slaw
not enough ice
Matt Williams:
first Brewfest, "it was awesome"
more drinking water, and better labeled
very good site
Jonathon:
couldn't find paper plates in the last hour -- ran out?
Ticket report:
issued:
160 adult tickets
11 minor tickets
71 comp tickets
turned in at ticket booth:
148 adult tickets
3 minor tickets
64 comp tickets
returned (unused):
2 adult tickets
2 minor tickets
0 comp tickets
unaccounted for?
10 adult tickets
7 minor tickets
7 comp tickets
proceeds should add up to (158 * 15) + (11 * 10) = $2480
Rob:
his glass was stolen
looks like we came really close to running out of glasses
we had contingency plans in case we ran out
Chuck:
during camping after, there were some rowdy campers
Rob:
tickets are too cheap -- plenty of demand, and we'd like to be able to afford more features
need to notify other homebrew clubs more in advance, for better turnout
we could use more electricity, for lighting, refrigeration
committee responsibilities end *after* Brewfest (Sunday morning)
attendance is maxed out -- 200 people is the most we can handle with current infrastructure
dangerous to tie attendance to glasses -- if something happens to the glasses,
how do we regulate serving beer?
Barry:
he showed up one hour before Brewfest, and did not see any open campsites was able to borrow a corner from Yoders
Rob:
non-alcoholic beverages were hard to find
Sean:
we needed two more tables
Joe (via Rob):
the Parks staff were not happy that the dumpsters were moved
Joe told them that they weren't empty, and smelled, at which point they apologized
random comments:
need more trash cans, spread around more than the dumpsters
campgrounds were left in better condition that we found them, apparently
Marc says thank you to the committee heads
John Monaghan donated "The Compleat Meadmaker" by Ken Schramm to the library
AHA Mead Day is 6 August
John Monaghan wants to arrange something akin to Big Brew
Rob mentioned T-shirts, but notes that Matt isn't at the meeting, so we'll settle up later
Pete requested Brewfest pictures for posting to the web site
Rob mentioned the blog
Somebody should contact FSB about putting up a display for National Homebrewing Month
Rob adjourned the meeting
no commercial tasting
