LBG Minutes – September 2014
Business Meeting

Welcome
• New people – André, John and Matt. Welcome!
• Cleanup – John, Patty and Randy. Thank you!

Announcements
• The Lawrence Brewers Guild meetings are held to discuss new business and to learn about brewing beer and other beverages. If you are attending the meeting for social time, please take your talk outside of the building, so we can't hear you in the sanctuary. Please be considerate during the meetings. You are encouraged to bring your homebrew and a snack for sampling prior to the meetings.

• LBG stickers are on sale $1/each.

• If you have any LBG-related pictures or content appropriate for Facebook, the website or newsletter, please put those items in the LBG Facebook group or e-mail the content to lawrencebrewers@gmail.com.

New Business

The swap meet held before the meeting went well. Swap meets are being held while the weather is still good before each monthly meeting. Watch for the announcement on the Lawrence Brewers Guild Facebook Page.

LBG now has general liability insurance through the AHA. LBG membership rates were raised to $25/single, $35/family to offset the insurance cost.

The Quartermaster position has been made into a committee instead of just one person. The jockey box reservation form on the forum has been locked until the transition is made from Andy to the committee. The LBG trailer is not available to be reserved either since Brewfest is coming up.

The LBG Biermeister position is open. If you are interested in being the Biermeister, please contact Angleo. Members will vote in a new Biermeister in January. Until then, Chris Stenger and the KC Biermeisters are filling in for LBG.

The AHA Rally event (http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/e ... aha-rally/) will be held on October 18 at the Free State Brewing Company Production Facilities. James Taylor is the chair of the concession committee. Also, LBG will hold home brewing demonstrations at the rally. There will be a beer competition using sweet potatoes (viewtopic.php?f=20&t=3829). Bring your finished beers to sample to the October meeting. In order to attend the rally, you must either be a current member of AHA, or be willing to join. Only AHA members can attend the rally.

Brewfest Committee Reports:

Beverage: Frank Dillon
The process for getting your beer checked in at Brewfest is this:
1. Bring your keg (absolutely no solids should be in the keg) to the campground Friday, September 26 after 2PM, or on Saturday, September 27 before 11AM.
2. Find the tag that goes with your beer. Each tag is beer/person specific. If you have questions, ASK. Do not just grab a tag.
3. Take the tagged keg to Frank.
4. Frank will give you a Brewfest ticket.

You must have a ticket to attend Brewfest.

Everyone should check the beer donation list to ensure your name and beer are spelled correctly.

Frank needs soda donations. We usually go through 30-35 gallons of soda each year. We have only 5 gallons donated at this time.

The bartender sign up is on the forum. We need people to work the back bar.

Food: Sean Belden (not in attendance)
All LBG members are expected to bring a side dish on the 27th. Side dishes will sit out for a while, hence no mayo or dairy, if possible.

The side dish sign up is on the forum. Let Suzanne McAlister know if you have any questions.

Logistics: Fernando (not in attendance)
Matt Bechtold: We need someone with a pick up truck, cargo van or long trailer to return the rental items to Anderson Rental in Lawrence on Sunday.

We need more volunteers to bag ice.

Sign up to volunteer on the various Brewfest committees (Beverage, Food, Logistics). Every member that attends Brewfest should be signed up to work at least one shift helping with food, working the ticket station, emptying trash, replacing toilet paper, etc. All members should bring a side dish.

Shrimp Boil: Tucker Craig
Tucker will hold the shrimp boil on Friday night. You must have a ticket in order to eat. Tickets are $15 each.

Tucker needs some volunteers to clean up after the shrimp boil is over.

Tucker has food overage built into the cost in order to feed the vendor/donators on Friday night.

Music: Steve Brown
Steve has the bands all booked. The final band lineup is on the forum.

REMINDER: Friday, September 26 is for members only. This is a perk of membership.

Brewfest Tickets: Bowe is finishing the first round ticket purchases tonight. Then members who have donated a keg will have the option to purchase additional tickets in a 2nd round.

Everyone should police his or her own campsite at Brewfest. Fires must be put out cold before you leave. Pick up all trash and cigarette butts. Be out by Noon on Sunday. Bob Burton is locking the gate at noon.
All pets must be on a leash at all times. This is a campground rule.

Order your Brewfest t-shirts online at Zazzle.com.
