Meeting Minutes for the September, 14th meeting held at the Unitarian Fellowship

No seminar this month. October seminar will be on filling out a beer scoring sheet


Business Meeting

Cleanup
Matt and Sherrybob volunteered for cleanup

The meeting started with Sean introducing Ryan, a photographer with the UDK. Ryan took photos throughout the evening.

Any member attending Brewfest needs to signup for 30 minutes of bartending or barbacking. A signup sheet was available at the meeting. Please contact Sean if you have not yet signed up for a time slot.

Treasurer?s report
The LBG account currently stands at $6064.20

Party business
Oktoberfest
Fellowship October 21st Sherry will be checking with the Fellowship to see if we can have our Oktoberfest there.

Holiday party

Pole Tent
Sean proposed that the guild purchase a large wedding/catering style pole tent. They are going on Ebay for $400 or less. Vote taken. Approved. We will be purchasing a new tent.

Barrel is dead
The most recent Bourbon barrel batch got infected. It is enjoying it?s new home as a planter out at Andy?s house. A new Bourbon barrel has been purchased with proceeds from the last barrel.
New oak barrel
Do we want to buy a new oak barrel for brewing IPA and other pale beers?
Shane will get numbers and bring it up at the next meeting.

Committee Reports

Competition
More people need to enter the competition. Please pull off 2 bottles from every batch brought to Brewfest. Contact John Monaghan or Sean Belden if you need help with this.
Medals will be cast sometime before Monday
Entry fee is free for members $2 for non members

Need a volunteer to brew at the competition
Shane will brew a kit at the comp

Homebrew Samples
Roger (renfest rep) has said we can not give away samples at the festival because it violates their liquor license. However, he said that we can sell samples under their license. This raises some legal concerns among some of the members. The officers will be researching the issue further, and will post their findings shortly.


Brewfest Business
Gates open for members on Friday at 5pm
Members camping on Friday will be asked to help with set up and chopping veggies.

Comp tickets
2 each to Home brews shops. Joe will mail them.
Mass Beverage not sure how many. Likely 2.
Breweries. 75th, FS, BT.

All members should be at the festival grounds no later than noon on Sat.
Glasses are done Sean will pick them up
Sean will pick up food on Friday night

Need a volunteer to brew a demo at the competition
Chuck is doing a barleywine. We would like an additional demo. Please mail the officer?s list if interested

Tshirts are being picked up the 21st and look badass
$15 apiece. Please wear the shirts to the festival


Brewfest Committees:

Logistics
Somebody is getting tents/tables
Scott temp is taking care of ice
6 Gott coolers are being provided by members

Beverage
Commercial beers are lined up.
Member donations still have a lot of TBA. If it is not named soon It will be named by drunken members of the Bev committee.
Putting soda in kegs, then in coolers with ice

Entertainment
Bands are all set
Need a device to play music between sets. Lots of volunteers.

Food
Grocery shopping on Friday -Sean and Jarrell
Meat pickup is on Thursday
Jonathon will be bringing Wood and charcoal
Smoker pickup on Thursday
Everybody should bring a roll of duct tape
Ken is donating paper to top the tables.
Sean admits fault for last year?s Plethora of bread, and promises it will not happen again.
All should Bring a side.
Guild is doing condiments, mixed veggies, and baked beans,chips
