Seminar:
None

Announcements:
KCMB Competition:
Chuck Ferguson took 2nd for this barley wine. Congratulations Chuck!

On-site Demonstration:
Don will be doing a demo kit brew at Ale n Vino on the 21st and 22nd of April. Come out and give him and the club some support.

Most Valuable Brewer:
The Tap Handle trophy for MVB is in the house. Clint unveiled the shining symbol zymurgy proficiency. It is quite a site. Pictures will be uploaded to the web.

A Guild Brewery being made by Andy and Jarrell. They have spent several thousand dollars getting it up and running. The sales from the SS thermowells and racking canes are all going to the costs.

Jeff Jensen asked what seminars are coming up? we don?t know. Something will be posted in the forum.

The KGB brew competition in Texas was announced for anyone interested in entering.

Old Business:
BJCP:
A new poll on how many people want to be in the training. 9 or 10 people seem to be interested.
Craig said The BJCP Exam for dummies 2006, by Al Boyce is a good reference.

Maifest:
Event will be May 6th at Bloomington Beach West. Melissa asked if the event is Fri-Sun asking if camping is allowed starting on Friday. Sean replied that he believes so. Confirmation on that question is still outstanding. The event will be small focusing on the brew and not the party (yeah, whatever)

Road Trip to Omaha:
The trip Omaha was voted on and was cancelled ? no one voted to keep Omaha alive.

New Business:
Craig announced notice of the 1st Annual Sunflower Challenge. Date is set at 10-20-2007. Craig and Andy want the event to be BJCP sanctioned.
There will be approximately 10 categories allowed with a minimum number of entrants per category for a valid judging. The competition will be open for club and local entrants only. We want to start small so we don?t get overwhelmed or end up under staffed.
No web advertising. Possible event location could be the Boulevard tasting room in KC.
John Monaghan asked why the event should be in KC and why not in Lawrence Craig replied with the fact that the options are limited due to the serving of alcohol at the event. The plans are still in the early stages.
A future goal of this event is to try and make it a qualifying event to Master Brewer competitions and national awards.

AHA Club Competitions:
Each club can send it 1 entry. Next styles are Scottish / Irish ales. 50% or more of the fermentable have to be from extract meaning extract brews only for May. Good opportunity for noobs to learn more about the judging process or learn what style brews taste like.

We are going to host a Club Only competition. Next slot is 2 ? years away.
Andy stated that the club makes good beer and that people need to start submitting the brews for competition.
Options; have club tasting to understand the style, then do own brews, then bring in for taste testing for which gets entered for group brew.

Group Tasting:
New Glarus. Not an individual tasting, just a chance for the group to taste the New Glarus offerings. Thanks to John Monaghan for bringing them back with him.

Financials:
Joe was not present. Several people paid up their dues. Sean collected the monies.

Odds and Ends:
Craig brought 2 cases of leftovers from the Mississippi Mash out

Clean up:
Derek, Glenn, Clint, Dave, and Matt volunteered

New Faces (sorry if I mess up on the names. I?m easily distracted):
Mikah Kimble ? Knows Jensen? brewed once? looking into getting back into beer and wine.
Megan ? w/ husband
John Bowden ? knows Chuck and Jeff
Tom (tjthresh) from KC

Snacks:
The Jensen?s brought crackers, sausage and cheese. I think there was another dish but I didn?t find out who brought it, but thanks to all.
Thanks!
