Where should he go for a good beer?

I guess he's already been to Pyramid, and now he owes us a review!

In San Francisco go to the 21st Amendment, the Magnolia, Thirsty Bear, Rogue Ales Public House, San Francisco Brewing and the Toronado. I've had Pliny the Younger at the Toronado and it's great stuff. In Larkspur (only a ferry ride away from San Fran) is Marin Brewing Company. Farther north in Santa Rosa is Russian River Brewing and Third Street Ale Works. According to the RR website Pliny the Elder is on tap now. I've had good beer at all these places. Below are the intenet addresses.

In Oakland, I've heard good things about Pacific Coast Brewing although I haven't been there yet. Should be interesting because it is a brewpub that makes their beer from extract. http://www.pacificcoastbrewing.com/

Pizza Port

Pizza Port has three locations between LA and San Diego. I've been to the one in Carlsbad where they hold the San Diego Strong Ale Festival the first weekend in December. Definitely worth stopping at. In addition to their own beers there are usually several guest beers on tap.
