weldless fitting = leak. tips, tricks, upgrade?

#1 Post by jboehle » Tue Jun 30, 2009 12:29 pm

For my last brew, I picked up a no-weld thermobob thingy and a Blichmann brewmometer to mount in my turkey fryer pot. The fittings are about as tight as I can get them (and I experimented from very loose to snug to extra tight), and the damn thing still leaks. So now I have a kettle with a leaky hole in it, grrr. Any tips or tricks to get this no weld thingy to not leak, or barring that, recommendations on an economical brew kettle upgrade?

Try taking a small flat blade screwdriver and smash the oring back inside the washer or closer to the hole. Most the time that is what causes leaks. Ive used weldless fittings for 6yrs or so and they haven't leaked a drop.

1. When a once extraordinarily hoppy beer now seems pedestrian.
2. The phenomenon a person has when craving more bitterness in beer.
3. The long-term exposure to extremely hoppy beers; if excessive or prolonged, a habitual dependence on hops will occur.
4. When a "Double IPA" just is not enough

Post a picture of your thingy. I could cut you a Delrin gasket if you can not get it to seal.
Have Fun!

Just slop a tun of gorilla glue all over it, inside and out. That fixes everything doesn't it?

Ha, probably! Would have to call every one of my brews "Gorilla" somethingorother, since it would probably give it's own flavor to them :)
