As I understand it, frost free freezers work by having heating coils come on every few hours and melting the frost build up and once the temp inside the freezer gets above freezing, the heating coils shut off, or something like that. My question is, if the freezer is kept at 60F to 75F by means of a temperature controller, will the heating coils ever come on? If the heating coil does come on, is it even an issue when using the freezer to ferment beer at 60F to 75F? I don't want undesireable temperature fluctuations. Yes, I know chest freezers don't have this frost free issue, but full carboys are too heavy. And you can't remove or adjust the shelves in upright freezers with manual defrost.
Thanks.
