That sounds like a cool process.
It also sounds like it is bad to say freeze distillation and better to say freeze concentration (though I assume that the outcome is the same no matter what you "call it").
Most of my searching says that it is illegal, though some places say it isn't . . . I am betting that those people (those that say it isn't illegal) are correct only in it isn't illegal if you don't get caught.
