Fundraiser for Haiti

#1 Post by sherrybob » Fri Jan 15, 2010 7:10 am

I realize this is not necessarily about beer, but it is taking place at the place we meet:
Help for Haiti
The Unitarian Fellowship invites you to attend an emergency fund raiser to help the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee help Haiti.

What: Chili Feed
When: Monday, Jan 18 - Martin Luther King, Jr Day, 5-8 pm
Where: Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence, 1163 N 1100 road
Why: Because we need to put our values into action

Monetary donations will be forwarded to the UU Service Committee. Please make any checks out to UFL or Unitarian Fellowship and we will send one check to UUSC. UUSC’s disaster response in Haiti will focus on those survivors less likely to have access to aid, such as child domestic workers (restaviks), women-headed households that work in the informal sector, and people living with HIV/AIDS. Haiti has a vibrant grassroots movement with a vision of empowering people. UUSC will work closely with partners in this grassroots movement to reach those survivors at greatest risk of being overlooked.

Want to help? Call Sherry Warren at 785-594-3993 or email her at ufldre@sunflower.com (work email). She will need people to help set up on Sunday and Monday, serve our guests on Monday evening, and make chili and cornbread all day Monday at UFL.

1. When a once extraordinarily hoppy beer now seems pedestrian.
2. The phenomenon a person has when craving more bitterness in beer.
3. The long-term exposure to extremely hoppy beers; if excessive or prolonged, a habitual dependence on hops will occur.
4. When a "Double IPA" just is not enough

Moved to General, and put a sticky to every forum to get the word out.

Also so I link to it and the whole world can see.

If people can't make it, is there a online donation place you can goto?
