September 2013 Tasting: Bockbier

#1 Post by dbüscher » Wed Sep 04, 2013 2:09 pm

Happy Oktoberfest!

I decided to commemorate the annual Oktoberfest celebration in Munich, Germany with my favorite German bier style: the big, malty, sweet, and über drinkable Bockbier.

My goal is to hit on the different variations of these strong German lagers: Bock, Doppelbock, Eisbock, Maibock, Helles Bock, and Weizenbock (technically an ale, but every bit a bock!).

I make no guarantees that this won’t just turn into a Doppelbock tasting, but I think we all still win even if that happens.

I am also putting out a call for LBGers to bring some tasty traditional German foods like sausages, mustards, kraut, pretzels, bierocks, and German Chocolate cake (I know the last is not actually German, but we need something sweet to balance all that damn salt).

Pröst!
