Upcoming Beercation

#1 Post by Ace » Wed May 25, 2016 10:42 am

Maureen and I are planning our annual excursion to Colorado. This year we want to get away from the front range and do something different. We are considering the journey to Ska Brewing in Durango. Has anyone been there? Is it worth driving across two states to visit or should I just buy their bottles here and visit someplace closer?
Thanks for your feedback

Have never visited Ska, but drove through Durango several years ago. It's scenic, and Mesa Verde is nearby. I just saw this today; looks like there's more than just Ska. Haven't done any follow-up, though. :)

Never been to Durango, so can't speak to that trip. Looks like Colorado Springs wouldn't be too far out of the way for that drive though.

if you're just wanting to push a little further into the mountains than the front range, there are several breweries up in the Summit County & Vail area. Lauren & I have been to:
Dillon Dam Brewery in Dillon (Get your own Dam Beer!)
Back Country Brewing in Frisco
Breckenridge Brew Pub (not their main production brewery) in Breck
Crazy Mountain Brewing in Edwards, just past Vail

There are quite a few others in the same area that I haven't been to yet:
Pug Ryan's
The Baker's Brewery
Broken Compass
Vail Brewing
Gore Range Brewery (in Edwards)
Breckenridge Distillery - if you're into that.

Please visit all of these & report back, so I know which ones are worth stopping at the next time I make it out there :)

We've been to Breck, Dillon Dam, Pug Ryans and Back Country, but the one we liked best in the area was new that year, The Baker's Brewery.
This year we've planned a route that will circle the SW part of CO. Will keep you apprised..
