Norsemen Brewing Co. adds kitchen that will dish up ‘good American eats with a Norse flair’

When the North Topeka brewery opened four years ago, the owners didn’t plan on incorporating wine into their drink menu. A few weeks later, customers were sipping a glass of wine while conversing with friends. Moments like that made Jared Rudy realize that the phrase “never say never” was one that applied to his business, and four years later, he once again has been reminded that nothing is impossible. Now, Norsemen Brewing Co., 930 N. Kansas Ave., will soon add food to its repertoire. While the brewery previously contracted with KB’s Smokehouse food truck to provide food for its guests, this menu will be Norsemen’s and will reflect the brewery’s Norwegian and Viking theme.

Norsemen will debut its food menu Monday, Nov. 2, and it will usher in the start of the brewery opening seven days a week. It was previously closed on Mondays.

The menu, which has been crafted with the assistance of Pedro and Javier Concepcion, will feature food items that are unique but approachable. “We didn’t want to just be another burger place or chicken fried steak,” Rudy said. “We have tons of places around Topeka that have those type of things. We wanted something that would go with our brand, but be approachable.” According to Rudy, the owners are categorizing the food as “good American eats with a Norse flair.”

The menu takes a page out of the Norwegian cookbook and features items that pay homage to the rustic and homestyle cooking of Scandinavia.

I had the fried goat cheese balls (forget what they were called on the menu) yesterday and they were AMAZING!
