Re: 25g kettles
I wonder why one is advertised as 25 gal and the other 26. Are they trying to squeeze an extra gallon in there somewhere
http://www.instawares.com/nsf-stainless ... 00.0.7.htm is the one I was looking at before getting one from more beer. With free shipping it's the best deal I found, may end up getting one for a mash tun someday, unless I get another deal of the day from more beer.

Re: 25g kettles
I dont know either Lee, but they are 25g not 26. Must be rounding up.
If anyone wants a copy, I have a graph that shows depth in inches converted to gallons for these pots. I then made a wooden dipstick with the converted inches:gallons increments on it.
Let me know.

Re: 25g kettles
That sounds pretty nifty Andy. Is that something you can post here? Several members have made the move to bigger batches recently, I think this would be something we can all use.

Re: 25g kettles
I cant seem to find my file. I do have a paper copy of the entire pot for volume increments. But I will post a few of the important numbers. Assume a 2g/Hr. Boiloff Rate on 10,15,20,23g batch size.meisel wrote:That sounds pretty nifty Andy. Is that something you can post here? Re: 25g kettles
Thanks Andy,
I was going to do that today and put on my list to do, forgot about it until it was too late
Did a batch of pale ale since I need to get the kegs full again.

Re: 25g kettles
Gosh, Andy, I thought someone with all your brewing experience would be able to eyeball the volume of any brewpot
.
Re: 25g kettles
I actually can. But one thing about these big kettles the boil off rate changes by 1/2g or a little more with the outside temp. making the dipstick very useful.JMcG wrote:Gosh, Andy, I thought someone with all your brewing experience would be able to eyeball the volume of any brewpot.

Couldn't help myself. BTW that converts to 1 gallon every .754 inchesBlktre wrote:Ouch.DJ in KC wrote:Always bragging on himselfBlktre wrote: making the dipstick very useful.

Measuring for my dipstick was a pain. Did it by weight but it's handy to have around on a brew day. When I'm brewing to get 12 gallons post boil I've found that the dipstick measures 12.5 gallons at 212df and shrinks to 12.0 around 70 - 60df after the IC does it's thing. You're gonna get even more volume loss when you cool those big kettles. 50 ft of IC in the kettle raises the volume by about a quart too.
