Most of us are unwilling to part with something like a carboy unless we are trimming down the brewhouse, and even then, we keep stuff anyway, cuz you just never know.

I've seen carboys at garage sales and such, but those finds are rare and you never know just what they were using it for before you got it. Buddy of mine picked up a 5 gallon carboy for $5. See what deals you can get online. I think carboys are up to like $35~$40 for the 6 gallon ones.

try a post of www.brewboard.com. It reaches many in KC, Lawrence and surrounding areas, if you are willing to travel to get one vs having one delivered to your door from northernbrewer.com
Thanks!

I figured there weren't many people willing to part with carboys, but thought it'd be worth a try. It's always a difficult decision wether to just go out and buy what I need now or try to save some money and shop around. I've already got 1 carboy that Andy has be generous enough to loan me, but I really want to get some more for myself verses borrowing them.

FYI---The Merc has 5 and 3 gallon carboys that are around $35.

Jack-

I'd be happy to borrow them. Can you bring them to the November meeting?

Carboys

#8 Post by fergmeister » Mon Oct 27, 2008 7:01 pm

Hey Brewers,
The word on the street is Mexico no longer makes carboys. They sold the molds to Italy and they have'nt been producing yet. AND the price is to double. Damn global warming :x
